Increase Fitness - My personal Journey
To increase fitness is my own personal goal. I am not a Doctor, nutritionist or even a certified trainer.
I started working out and lifting weights when I was 15 years old and that was a long, long time ago. The history books refer to it as the dark ages.
I have learned a little along the way and I have developed a huge amount of opinions about fitness, nutrition and adding muscle to an other wise weak skinny body.
I am not trying to replace a fitness trainer, nutritionist or a doctor.
My intention is to share my own personal journey to get fit and of course spew forth a lot of my own personal opinions along the way.
I did not begin this journey yesterday and I am not putting the beginning off until next week! In truth, I began the journey to increase fitness about 7 years ago.
Welcome to My Journey To Increase Fitness
My Personal Increase Fitness Journey - where it began
My journey to increase fitness actually began in October of 2002. Like so many Americans, I realized that I was out of shape and fat. I started eating better and working out. In December I wrote the following about why I decided to get fit.
September 2002, I decided to take a half mile walk from my house, 3/4 of the way there the lights went out and I woke up looking into the face of the local paramedic.
Bottom line: high cholesterol, high triglycerides high almost everything. Truth be told, I had been bulking for 10 years and I do mean bulk.
5′10 and a waist that was 46″ tipping the scale at 238#’s. Oh yeah, world you only think I am done, I really am just getting started at 56 years old. Ok, lets cut to the chase, on October 12 2002 I decided to do something about it. Change my diet and start exercising. By the fourth of December my weight was down to 217, my waist was down to 39.5 my body fat had dropped from 33% to 22% and I felt great.
My exercise program had gone from simple exercise to weight training.
I still focus on keeping my nutrition clean - Exercising to increase fitness, build muscle and keep off fat and having good activity habits.
Now you know why my goal is still to increase fitness, build muscle and lose fat.
